Morning Calm

Writer's picture: JF BierleinJF Bierlein

There are birds singing and only a little rustling in the trees

The earth is still warm from yesterday’s sun

The air smells like moist earth

Like a fresh clay pot

There are no people sounds.

I place my agenda aside

To listen,to smell daybreak

And watch the sky change colors

From royal purple

To a palette of oranges and reds

To the light blue that you colored skies as

When you were a child.

A little breeze brings the scent of orange blossoms

And as much as this fills my heart

It is all indifferent to my presence.

Nature is timeless

Suspended time for me

Then I remember

This is a day

And time resumed.

Being human is being a creature of nature

Imprisoned in time

Like a fly caught in amber
