Like a desert owl. . .like an owl among the ruins. The Bible. Psalm 102:6
Look for the owl.
Sometimes it appears in the darkest night.
Some said that an owl lives in the ruins to protect a treasure.
The owl is the emblem of Athena and Athens, and is therefore wise.
Native Americans believed that the owl was a messenger,
And many cultures think of the owl as a messenger or death.
So the owl protects a treasure, is wise, and is a messenger.
The treasure is knowledge
and the message of wisdom is that our lives are short and finite.
There is always a treasure in the ruins—
Those ruins in our lives, the wreckage of disappointment, loss, and costly mistakes.
But in those ruins, and in the darkness, there is the treasure of wisdom.
Guarded by the owl of memory.
