Grief

Writer's picture: JF BierleinJF Bierlein

(For my friend Seda)

To lose someone

Is to lose a piece of oneself

A void opens that is filled, in time

In a strange and beautiful way

Because love still resides there.

For love is stronger than death

And the empty place in the heart is filled by two things that never go away

The love we felt for the one who left

And the love that they felt for us

This is the gift wrapped in memories.

Those remain

And our tears

Just cleanse our eyes to see

That the void is never really a void

But a home where love dwells.
